Nursery Rhymes - A Home Away From Home

At Nursery Rhymes we have created a home away from home environment over two floors that are naturally relaxing, warm, friendly, and welcoming. Our child focused environment enables learning, exploring and playing with daily outdoor play.

We work closely with families in a variety of ways to ensure that each individual child’s needs are being supported and met so they can reach their full potential. We offer free settling-in sessions to ensure the transition from home into nursery life is as easy as possible.

We have a supportive nursery environment which encourages your child to play, experiment, discover and learn as they grow and develop. The daily routine provides continuity for all children and a wide range of activities are planned using the seven areas of learning and development set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage. The children are cared for in a small group with a key worker simulating a caring family atmosphere whilst seeking to develop their educational skills and prepare for a more formal school environment.

Meals are freshly prepared on site by our chef, so all stages of weaning can be catered for, as well as meeting dietary requirements. We offer a well-balanced, nutritious 4 weekly seasonal menu and can cater for dietary requirements.

Our exciting outdoor space has ample outdoor natural and artificial play areas on the front and back for all weathers with a soft secure covered play area for those wet winter days.  The front garden features a large sand pit with a grass area for running and a path for riding bikes. We have a covered pavilion for music, singing and small group activity, as well as a fun play tower. The back garden area with soft surface area is where most of our summer lunch times take place and is also used through the wet winter months.

We provide an outstanding level of childcare in a safe, nurturing environment. Our aim is to provide every single child with the absolute best start in life, supported by our long standing, qualified, experienced members of our staff team.

Qualified Staff

We are particularly pleased that all of our Nursery Practitioners are qualified to a Level 3 standard and some to Level 5 degree level or QTS.  Staff are enrolled with our training provider on day one of their career with us, to progress their certified development.

All of our staff hold a paediatric first aid certificate and our catering staff hold Food Hygiene and Allergy awareness certificates.

The majority of our staff have been with us for many years.

Healthy Eating

We provide a healthy 4 week menu, which changes seasonally. We work with parents when looking at new menu ideas and take guidance from the government and eat well plate. Our delicious and healthy meals are all cooked on site from the freshest ingredients we can find.

Mealtimes are also fun, where children learn social skills by eating together, sharing together, and helping each other. Our staff support younger babies and closely monitor them, and older children are taught to self-serve, encouraging confidence and independence.

We grow vegetables and a variety of herbs in Spring and Summer, enabling children to have the opportunity to watch seedlings grow into food they can pick and eat! They learn where food comes from, the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

We have grown lots of vegetables including tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, chillies, courgettes, carrots, strawberries, dwarf beans, mint, thyme, bay, rosemary, basil and lots of bee friendly flowers too!

We’re proud to have a 5-star Food Standards Agency rating, reflecting our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and food preparation. Every meal is thoughtfully prepared in a carefully managed, hygienic environment, ensuring your child receives nutritious, wholesome food they can enjoy with confidence. Our chef has all the relevant training and qualifications to cater for allergies and intolerances. We know how important peace of mind is for parents, and this long-standing achievement is just one of the many ways we show our dedication to your child’s wellbeing.
